Lucid Dreaming
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is the state where you become aware that you're dreaming while still in the dream. When you achieve this state, you can control or influence the dream content, creating extraordinary experiences impossible in waking life.
Lucid dreaming isn't just an exciting experience, but can also provide benefits such as:
- Reducing nightmares and anxiety
- Enhancing creativity
- Practicing skills in a safe environment
- Exploring your subconscious and self-awareness
- Experiencing the impossible in a vivid, realistic way
Lucid dreaming typically occurs during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, when brain activity is similar to wakefulness. Research shows that during lucid dreaming, the prefrontal cortex (related to self-awareness) is more active than in regular dreams.
Lucid dreaming is a real phenomenon that has been scientifically studied since the 1970s. Approximately 55% of adults have experienced at least one lucid dream in their lifetime, and about 23% experience it monthly or more frequently.
